[SOLVED] Three Dimensional Variogram

Here you can report the problems encountered when using a function relative to the variography:
- experimental variography (vario.calc, vario.grid, vmap.calc, ...)
- model fitting (model.auto)

[SOLVED] Three Dimensional Variogram

Postby mharley » Tue Nov 13, 2018 10:24 am

Hello, I'm calculating a variogram for a three dimensional data set with two variable. I am most interested in the DownHole variogram, but for some reason I cannot calculate more than 9 lags. So I can set the lag spacing at 10m and see a 90m long variogram, but when I use a 1m lag, I'm limited to 9m from the origin, I'm interested in the short-range part of the variogram but wish to see about 30 lag of 1m. How can I do this?

Sorry for our (extremely) late answer.
I have totally missed your question!!!

Did you tried the argument nlag=30 from vario.calc function?

Can we use 3D variograms to build a 3D model in RGeostats?

Dear Jeffrey

Yes it is possible !
Please, have a look to this vignette which talks about how to construct a 3D experimental variogram from 3D dataset: http://rgeostats.free.fr/doc/Vario_3D.html
Then, a call to model.auto will provide you a 3D variogram model fitted to the given experimental variogram.

Hope this helps
