[SOLVED]Trouble Installin RGeoS

Postby MatthieuA » Thu Apr 25, 2013 9:47 am

Dear RGeoS Developers and Users,

I've tried installing RGeoS on my new computer, but failed and I don't understand what went wrong.

R version is R version 2.15.3 (2013-03-01) -- "Security Blanket"
Platform: x86_64-w64-mingw32/x64 (64-bit)
This is the error message:

####
>Enter License File Complete Path or <CR> (Def=) : "C:/Users/mauthier/Documents/R/Authier-XXXXXX.code"
Unable to open the License File : "C:/Users/mauthier/Documents/R/Authier-XXXXXX.code"
A possible reason could be :
- the machine has changed
- the License Key has been moved
###

The Licence key is at the specified path. RGeoS Version is RGeoS_9.1.2.

What am I missing?

Thanking you in advance,

Matthieu

Hello,
Thank you for your interest in RGeoS package.
Note: I assume that the real name of the file is not Authier-XXXXXX.code but Authier-$ACTIV.code where $ACTIV is your activation code.

This error occurs for one of these reasons :
- The license file path is wrong => maybe the extension of the file is missing ?
- The license file is not readable => could you ensure that you have read access (try to open it with notepad)
- The license file is empty => please check the content
- The license file has wrong caracters inside => please send me the content by private message.

This file should contain only one line ended by a carriage return.

Hope it helps!

Hello,

first I apologize: I didn't see that there was an answer waiting for so long!
I updated R to the latest version and I still have the same problem as before.
I've checked the path, that I have read access, and that the file is not empty.
Can I still send this file to check whether there are any wrong characters?
Again, apologizing for my sloppiness in answering

Thank you for the licence file you provided. This one seems legit.
Could you give us the error message displayed by RGeoS (the new versionyou have installed) ?
I need all what is written just after the 'library' command (= RGeoS Package loading option).

I put on this topic the message you've got and answer to your problem so that every people will benefits from your experience.

Code: Select all
> library(RGeoS)

Problem with the RGeoS License File
- If you have a License File, please identify it (full path).
- Otherwise you can generate it from the site: http://rgeos.free.fr/form.php
You must identify yourself and provide the activation code: XXXXXX
You will receive the license file by email.
- If you do not identify the license file, your R session remains valid
but RGeoS functions will not be accessible.
In case of problem, please contact: rgeos@geosciences.mines-paristech.fr
Enter License File Complete Path or <CR> (Def=) : "C:/Users/mauthier/Documents/R/Authier-XXXXXX"
Unable to open the License File : "C:/Users/mauthier/Documents/R/Authier-XXXXXX"
A possible reason could be :
- the machine has changed
- the License File has been moved or is read-protected

The problem comes from the fact that you forget the Licence File extension '.code'.
You should put the full path to the file (with its full name).
Default Windows file explorer option is to hide file extensions. That's why you have probably forgot it ;-)

Hope it solves this issue !!
